Answers to Your Cake & Dessert Questions

Travel

Always hold your cake from the bottom of its box or board. The best place to store your cake while traveling is on the floorboard or flat section in trunk (if air conditioned)

In the summer, it is crucial that your air conditioner remains on high until the cake arrives at your destination.

If you have requested a round cake board base simply slide it off of the square box base before placing it on your party table.

Storage

Short-Term Storage (1-3 days): Your cake box will indicate whether or not it should be refrigerated.

If refrigerated, be sure to allow the cake 1-2 hours to come to room temperature before serving.

If your cake says to keep unrefrigerated, keep it in its box, in a cool dry spot, away from any direct sunlight or strong odors.

Cake Cutting

When cutting your cake, please remove any decorations from the top, being sure to remove all skewers that may be holding them in place. If you have a two-tier cake, you should expect cake supports to be inside the bottom tiers. Each tier will be separated by a cake board to ensure easy cutting. When cutting an extra tall tier, it is best to slice directly down one side with a cutting board nearby, to catch it and cut into smaller rectangles.

Freezing

Long-Term Storage (Up to 3 Months): Flash freeze your cake by placing it into freezer for 30 minutes. Once cold, remove the cake and wrap tightly in cling film. For extra protection, wrap the cake in aluminum foil before storing back in the freezer.

To thaw, allow the cake it set in refrigerator overnight. remove foil and/or cling film and leave it at room temperature for 1-2 hours before serving.
